In this exclusive image series commissioned by Gufram, the iconic Broken Mirror—designed by the New York-based studio Snarkitecture, founded by artist Daniel Arsham and architect Alex Mustonen—is reimagined within surreal brutalist settings. The sculptural mirrors, hand-carved in polyurethane with a concrete-like finish, stand like visual portals amid raw concrete structures and skies filled with floating clouds. The organic voids carved into each mirror contrast dramatically with the solid, monolithic architecture, creating a striking interplay of texture, light, and form.
This visual concept explores the tension between materiality and emptiness, solidity and transparency, paying tribute to brutalist aesthetics and the conceptual freedom of Italian Radical Design. Each brutalist interior becomes a dreamlike stage where Gufram’s Broken Mirror acts as a metaphysical gateway into alternate realities.
